The Rumors:
The following are rumors and only rumors. None of the following has been confirmed. Note, when I hear a more up-to-date or factual rumor that corresponds to an older rumor, I will add the previous rumor to the new one, or delete the previous one.

02/09/04 - New rumored Metroid Prime 2 information:

-Metroid Prime 2 will have a multiplayer mode, and the controls will be directly from the single-player, meaning it will include the auto-targetting. The basic idea is that the ball morph move will be vital to dodging attacks. My guess is that once you're in ball form you can't be locked on and they have to aim manually. This could be very cool with well designed levels, as it incorporates the simple-yet-complex formula that makes many multiplayer titles famous.

-It will feature more epic boss fights, and the bosses themselves will be much larger then the original (expect the return of Kraid).

-Larger levels, with more even detail (you heard me).

-The story and gameplay will be more action-oriented then the original.

02/09/04 - FALSE - Nintendo will delay the N5 until 2007 and release peripherals for the GameCube to extend it's life.

Mr. Glub Glub adds: Come on, you should know better then to believe this kind of crap.

01/27/04 - Nintendo may have a new Tokyo-based development studio according to recent reports from the East, or West if you want to take a shortcut. The new developer is said to hold previous employees of  Sega, Capcom, Konami, Namco and Square-Enix, and it is being reinforced by Mario and Zelda creator, Shigeru Miyamoto.

01/25/04 - According to the recent IGN article on all the big GC exclusives coming out in 2004, they mentioned hearing rumors that Namco was planning on making Star Fox more 'adult-oriented'. I never considered Star Fox a child-oriented franchise, but I never considered it adult either. It's probably one of the more neutral well-established franchises. As a big Star Fox fan (I think it's my favorite Nintendo franchise universe), I'd love to see the franchise go in any new direction, and explore something deeper, especially in terms of a storyline. There's alot of mystery to the Star Fox franchise, namely the enigma character 'Falco', my favorite video game character of all time.

Maybe Slippy will die a horrible bloody death by falling down a staircase, and shaft himself on the horns of Prince Tricky's now dead corpse? No, that wouldn't happen - get your mind out of the gutter.

01/15/04 - FALSE -  Rumors towards the rookie of the year developer, Retro Studios, suggest that they have more then one title in development. While I have posted rumors that the previously cancelled titles by Retro Studios prior to getting the resonsibility of Metroid Prime, Thunder Rally and Raven Blade, may have another chance at finishing development, this rumor seems to suggest that just the RPG, Raven Blade, is in development at the moment alongside the sequel to Metroid Prime. That's one big sentence.

Also, according to the same rumor, Metroid Prime 2 will be pushed to a launch title for Nintendo's next video game console. The fate of Raven Blade is likely the same.

01/06/04 - FALSE - Resident Evil 4 not a GameCube exclusive? That's what video game publication Game Informer is claiming to have overheard.

12/17/03 - One thing the other two consoles, Xbox and PS2, have that GameCube lacks is a popular racing sim franchise. The Xbox has Project Gotham Racing, and the PS2 has the Gran Turismo series. While there have been rumors that the cancelled N64 Nintendo racing sim, Rev Limit, was back in development, it appears this may no longer be...true? If this rumor is correct, Nintendo plans to change all this, because apparently Nintendo has purchased the Top Gear franchise, which has roots with Nintendo far back to the NES and SNES. Cool.

12/01/03 - The Ninja strikes back to deliver some June-themed information that games like Pikmin 2, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, and The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords [which is comprised of Hyrule Adventure, Tetra's Trackers, and Shadow Battle], Wario Ware GC, Pokemon Coloseum, and Nintendo Puzzle Collection will all be released by month of June.

May [not June] will be the month that E3 2004 will be held, which he mentions will house more updated looks at previous games like Star Fox GC, Geist, and a game called Stage Debut.

E3'04 is looking good as opposed to 2003's E3. Hopefully Nintendo will show more first-party titles at this year's E3, as they have commented previously that we may finally get to see titles like Mario 128, Animal Crossing 2, Pilotwings GC, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 2, Mario Tennis GC, Resident Evil 4 and the even the fabled 'Game Zero' at E3'04. Don't make me a liar Nintendo.

11/04/03 - EAD Ninja seems to claim that NST is possibly currently developing a new title in the Punch-Out series for the GameCube, or GameBoy Advance [Update: Or Nintendo DS?]. He also went on to mention previous rumors reported here on titles such as a new Pilotwings also being in development for GameCube.

10/15/03 - FALSE - Dead Phoenix has become a Kid Icarus title. This rumor seems to have started from speculation: a) The fact that the main characters from both respective titles has some similarities. b) Capcom has been interested in developing an even closer relationship with Nintendo via developing one of their franchises.

Source: IGN.com, Electronic Gaming Monthly

UPDATE: Keep in mind, just because this rumor is false, this doesn't mean a Kid Icarus title in general isn't in development. That rumor still remains.

09/18/03 - Will the next Zelda for GameCube not be cel-shaded after all? It sounds more like wishful thinking for some, but rumors is rumors. The reason I posted this is because there is a possibility Nintendo was inspired by Namco's interpretation of Link in GameCube's Soul Calibur 2. That and the fact that because of Link alone Soul Calibur 2 sold incredibly well on the GameCube [better then the PS2 and Xbox versions].

Personally, I loved the cel-shaded Wind Waker, but even I can't help but be curious towards seeing a realistic Zelda on a more powerful console then the N64.

09/09/03 - FALSE -There are rumors that suggest that the GameCube may be receiving an enhanced port of Final Fantasy VII from Square-Enix, and it is to be revealed at this year's Tokyo Games Show [Sept. 26th-28th].

Source: The Street

09/09/03 - CONFIRMED - Will Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes receive the same fate at Pikmin 2? Possibly. There are rumblings down below that the GameCube exclusive remake of the original MGS will be delayed until next year. Bad news for some, good news for me - I was worried I wouldn't be able to fit alot of the tons of games coming out at the end of the year [starting October to December you'll see what I mean] into my budget.

Source: The Street

_________________________________________________________

09/03/03 - CONFIRMED - The Word suggests that Pikmin 2 may be in store for quite a delay. It may be because it would be released in the very crowded month of October, sharing releases with games like Viewtiful Joe, XIII, Kirby Air Ride, Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, and Tony Hawk's Underground, amoung others.

Miyamoto also commented that he already was getting ideas for Pikmin 3, so this delay 'could' be that he'd rather incorporate them into Pikmin 2 then wait, giving the new franchise a huge jumpstart on an epic level, thusly drawing more attention and hype to the Pikmin franchise on a Zelda or Mario level.

08/29/03 - Denis Dyack, president of Silicon Knights [creators of Eternal Darkness and currently developing a GameCube Metal Gear Solid title with Konami], recently hinted at Kid Icarus in an interview in GamePro magazine:

"GP: What other games would you like to re-make in the same way as Metal Gear Solid?

DD: I would say Resident Evil but that has already been done. There are many games that I would like to see this done to but if I were to say one it would probably be Kid Icarus.
"

It may seem like 'nothing', but I recall Denis Dyack hinting at Metal Gear Solid in an interview long before Twin Snakes was confirmed to be in development by Silicon Knights in the same exact same manner as this. Take it with a grain of salt.

Kid Icarus is an old NES platformer, starring a winged character named Pit, that was more of a vertical-scrolling game then a side-scroller. It has fairly recently been popular amoung old school fans in terms of getting long overdue sequel for the new generation of consoles.

08/13/03 - CONFIRMED - The next Donkey Kong title for the GameCube, being developed in a joint effort between Namco and Nintendo, may be sporting the music genre. If this is true it will be Nintendo's first stab at the genre they wished they created [unless you consider the Zelda titles under the music genre]. The game has currently been given the name Donkey Konga by fans.

UPDATE: Donkey Konga is in development by Namco, but an in-house Nintendo developed DK title is still rumored to be in development.

08/04/03 - Capcom is apparently interested in working with Nintendo on a Nintendo-related franchise, ala Sega with F-Zero and Namco with Star Fox 2. Capcom made a 'joking' remark that they'd like to work on a GameCube Zelda title with Nintendo. This could have some truth to it as Nintendo seems to have their hands full, coupling the fact that after The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker's release Nintendo seemed scatterbrained that people were already asking for a sequel, only to instantly a couple weeks later make The Wind Waker sequel official. There is also word that the Capcom GameCube exclusive Dead Phoenix may infact be undergoing a big change, Kid Icarus-style.

07/06/03 - Though Eternal Darkness sold a considerable 200,000+ copies it didn't nearly sell as much as it deserved. Because of this it was believed that a sequel isn't likely. But now, through recent events, things have changed -- According to Matt from IGNcube.com he believes that the script for ED2 has already been written. Couple that with the fact that Hypnotic [ The Bourne Identity, etc.] recently got the movie/series rights for Eternal Darkness and you've got yourself a rumor.

07/03/03 - I had reported this before but EAD Ninja pretty much confirms that Fire Emblem is on the way to GameCube. EAD Ninja is usually accurate and he seems pretty set that this game is in the works. He goes on to mention to expect it around the second quarter of 2004. With games like Animal Crossing 2, Resident Evil 4, Star Fox GC, Metroid Prime 2, Super Monkey Ball 3, etc. 2004 is already looking stellar. I'm fairly sure Fire Emblem GC will also make it overseas to North America, as the Game Boy Advance Fire Emblem is. Not to mention Marth and Roy's popularity purely from being playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee is seemingly unnatural for a franchise that's never been released in NA previously. For now, let's keep this in the rumor section until we get the official announcement straight from Nintendo.

_________________________________________________________

07/01/03 - Matt, from IGN.com's GameCube section, speculates that Silicon Knights' Too Human [years in the making since the original Playstation] may be the first video game to take three generations of consoles to develop. He feels Nintendo and Silicon Knights are going to make Too Human a launch title for the GameCube's successor! He comments that Pilotwings 3, under development by Factor 5 and EAD, may also be pushed forward to the GameCube 2 launch because Factor 5 seems to be concentrating all their resources on the new and incredible Rogue Squadron 3 for GameCube [as Silicon Knights is with their Metal Gear Solid title for GameCube].

Those are second and third-party developed games, but what is Nintendo going to deliver at launch? I have my own theory that the barely commented on Donkey Kong title will be Nintendo's in-house heavy hitter for launch of the next console. If you didn't like Donkey Kong titles before [namely Donkey Kong 64], clear your mind -- Nintendo is developing it now, not Rare.

UPDATE: Donkey Konga is in development by Namco, but an in-house Nintendo developed DK title is still rumored to be in development.

06/09/03 - CONFIRMED - Sorry I'm so late on this - I could've sworn I posted it already. Probably one of the biggest sleeper hits on the Nintendo 64, Paper Mario, may be getting a sequel on the GameCube regardless.

03/11/03 - Peer [from IGN.com] hints that, "...there's a title in the works by a non-EAD team that revives/expands a known Nintendo franchise." I just get this crazy feeling that this quote may be referring all the way back to titles such as Punch-Out, Ice Climbers, Kid Icarus, or even Duck Hunt.

02/13/03 - According to Retro Studios, developers of the award winning Metroid Prime, they mentioned that they "have not cancelled any of their titles, and still have all the materials for all of their titles." Does this mean we will be playing Raven Blade and Thunder Rally in 2004? These games were thought to be cancelled over a year ago when Retro Studios took the overwhelming task of developing a new Metroid title. Thunder Rally was a car combat game, Raven Blade was a traditional and gorgeous RPG, and there was also rumors of sports titles in the works.

Review Archive:

I didn't have room on this tripod website to include every review article I had written [infact, I just delete them after I'm done with 'em], so I'll simply include the scores of the titles that I have reviewed in alphabetical order:

-Beyond Good & Evil - 8.5/10 - A fantastic video game experience.
-F-Zero GX - 9/10 - Sega and Nintendo's love-child. High speed, fast reflex gameplay. Difficult, but in a good way.
-Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour - 8/10 - A great golf sim in the Mario universe.
-Mario Kart: Double Dash - 9/10 - Mad fun.
-Metal Arms: Glitch in the System - 9/10 - A surprisingly great game.
-The Simpsons: Hit and Run - 7/10 - Best Simpsons game to date. Simpsons meet a more linear GTA3.
-Ultimate Muscle: Legends Vs. New Generation - 7/10 - High speed wrestling with quirky characters.
-Viewtiful Joe - 8/10 - Old school meets new school. Cool features to unlock on harder difficulties...but abit TOO hard.
-Wario World - 6.5/10 - Short but sweet.

Retro Review Archive:

This is a list of past GameCube games I had not previously had the chance to review in alphabetical order.

-Animal Crossing - 9/10 - Addictive. You won't understand until you play it for yourself.
-Bomberman Generations - 7.5/10 - Great multiplayer, decent single-player.
-Dead to Rights - 5/10 - Decent rental. Average gameplay.
-Enter the Matrix - 5/10 - Disappointingly average.
-Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee- 7/10 - Fun, satisfying multiplayer, but abit of a button-masher. Needs a story mode with mission objectives.
-Hulk - 6.5/10 - Smashing goodness, but awfully short.
-Ikaruga - 7/10 - Best old school shooter to date, but needs more substance compared to today's crowd. Abit too hard.
-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - 9.5/10 - A great experience from beginning to end.
-Luigi's Mansion - 6.5/10 - Rushed for the launch of the GameCube. Fun, but short, and lacks variety. Needs a sequel!
-Pikmin - 7.5/10 - Awesome strategy adventure game, but a little short. Great setup for an awesome sequel, coming in the second quarter of 2004.
-Red Faction 2- 5/10 - Average at it's finest..?
-Sega Soccer Slam - 7/10 - Great multiplayer.
-Skies of Arcadia Legends - 8/10 - Great traditional RPG. Craving an RPG? Get this game.
-Star Fox Adventures - 7.5/10 - Great graphics, sound, and overall scope. Flying missions need some work, and involves abit too much 'collecting'.
-Super Mario Sunshine - 8.5/10 - As a Mario game it just doesn't feel the same, but on it's own it's a great title.
-Super Monkey Ball - 8/10 - Great single-player, but worse multiplayer then SMB2.
-Super Monkey Ball 2 - 8.5/10 - Better multiplayer then the original SMB, but worse single-player. Some single-player levels almost require 'fluke' to beat.
-Super Smash Bros. Melee - 9.5/10 - Characters need abit more balancing, but near perfect.
-Timesplitters 2 - 8/10 - A little too fast, but fun nonetheless.
-Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 - 8/10 - I'm slowly getting sick of this franchise, but just barely. Not as good as THPS3.

What's New?

[02/09/04]

More popular rumors posted! Remember that sometimes I purposely post already confirmed false rumors just to get your facts straight.

Also I'm expecting to get Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles tomorrow, and I'll try to get my review up as soon as possible, but at the same time, don't make me rush.

One more thing, I added my first-person shooter concept to the 'Game Ideas' section. Have a look!

[01/27/04]

I did some cleaning of this here website, and I updated a few sections, namely 'Currently Playing', 'Top 5 Non-exclusives' and the newly named 'Top 20 exclusives'. I renamed it for a few reasons:

a) Honestly when it reaches 26 I think people stop caring.
b) Most of the games past 20 we had little to no information on.
c) The GameCube only has about a year and a half left or so, as the other consoles, before the next-next-next generation consoles are released (N5, PS3, Xbox 2) - and games will thusly and eventually slow down. I just wanted to save myself the future depression of knowing I'll have to buy another $400 console.

Sure, I kept Mario 128 and Zelda in the list, but that is because of a mix of knowing, through the franchise name, I should expect a high quality game, mixed with huge curiousity.

Hopefully by the time E3 rolls around we'll finally get more information on several titles, but even so I doubt I'll go back to the 'Top 30' - it's a bit excessive. Maybe.

Oh, and the review for February may be late, since I'm hoping to get ahold of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles early in the month, since so many people are confused about the title. I will tell you what's what.

One more thing - Check out the top of the site and you'll see the new 'Game Ideas' page, where I'll post pictures of myself nude. Do I really need to explain anything here? Everyone loved my Ice Climbers concept, everyone hated my first-person football game concept, but I figured I'd give it it's own section regardless.

[01/23/04]

I added the new comic for February early. Scroll down and check it~!

Just added the latest comic for January! Scroll down to the bottom.

[12/31/03]

Having finally rented and played the much overrated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, I have to say I'm a little let down. I couldn't even bring myself to beat the 10 hour long 'Game of the Year', to some sources of media, within a rentals time, let alone ever plan to re-rent. It wasn't bad, by any means, but I was lead to believe it was much more then an average platformer with a swift camera, and some neat looking moves - The game is better then average, but it's no Super Mario 64 (king of platformers). I think some people have forgotten that the number 9 is only 1 away from being a 10. The only redeeming factor about the game was the ability to reverse time, which didn't make up for it's horrible combat system in the end. The move in PoP where I jump over a baddy and attack on the way down got old faster then the slow-motion diving in Enter the Matrix. The story was pretty cheesey as well.

Apparently 'Game of the Year' material is getting gang-beat by 5 baddies at once while a person you're supposed to protect stands in one spot waiting for another baddy to kill her, thusly ending the game. So unless I had play the game for 5 more minutes to unlock Super Mario 128, I highly doubt I would've given the game any higher then a 7.5. Unfortunately I review games based on whether they're a worthy purchase or not, not whether a few moments in the 10 hour long game were "pretty cool", and since I didn't complete the game, I won't give it an official review.

After I returned PoP to my local Blockbuster, I decided to pick up the other Ubisoft game that was being seemingly ignored, Beyond Good & Evil. Wow - check out my review I just posted below.
